The first official Star Trek beer is set to make first contact in North America following a partnership between TV network CBS and a Canadian brewer.

The move aims to unite lovers of Star Trek and craft beer, according to Federation of Beer, a craft brewer based in the small town of Vulcan, Canada – the official Star Trek capital of Canada.

The brewer has already dabbled in the Trekkie beer space with the launch last year of Vulcan Ale, and the new CBS-backed brew, Klingon Warnog, will be brewed for Federation of Beer by Tin Man Brewing Company of Evansville, Indiana.

The new brew blends rye malt with a traditional clove character, in what CBS describes as a "bold beer suited for the harsh Klingon lifestyle."

As Vulcan Ale is currently only available in Canada, Klingon Warnog will be the first official "Trek" beer to be available in the US.

The beer will be released in the US and Canada later in the year.

Packaging News

The World Packaging Organisation has named 234 winners for the WorldStar Packaging Awards 2026, which were selected from 481 entries submitted across 36 countries.

ACOR is calling on the Government to urgently introduce packaging reforms or risk the collapse of Australia’s plastic recycling sector and face millions of tonnes of plastic waste polluting the environment.

As 2025 draws to a close, it is clear the packaging sector has undergone one of its most consequential years in over a decade. Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
