Entry into the 10th annual Melbourne Royal Australian Distilled Spirits Awards (ADSA), Australia’s largest national spirits competition, closes 7 June. This year includes a ready-to-drink category due to the market’s rapid growth.

The Awards offer distillers from across Australia an opportunity to showcase their craftsmanship and technique, while receiving recognition and feedback from a variety of Australia’s leading industry experts.

After a record-breaking year in 2023, with 970 entries from 246 exhibitors across 11 categories, the 2024 Melbourne Royal Australian Distilled Spirits Awards will offer 21 award trophies. This year’s program adds an extra category with two classes – Ready to Serve Cocktail and Ready to Serve Pre-Mix.

New spirits classes will include Barrel-Aged Vodka, Cello Liqueur, and Nut Liqueur. The Awards program is also introducing sub-styles in the New World/Contemporary Gin class, which will include Australian Contemporary/Dry, Citrus Gin & Contemporary Gin.

This year's head judge is Shaun Byrne, director of two of Australia’s most awarded beverage brands, Maidenii Vermouth and Marionette Liqueurs.

Tickets for the 2024 Australian Distilled Spirits Awards’ Trophy Presentation, held at the Melbourne Showgrounds Victoria Pavilion on 1 August, are now available on the Melbourne Royal website.

The celebratory night is a fantastic opportunity for distillers and spirit enthusiasts alike, to enjoy top-notch hospitality, tasting award winning spirits, network with industry peers and congratulate the award winners.

Melbourne Royal EGM of Agriculture, Darren Keating, said that “this year Melbourne Royal proudly celebrates 10 years of the Australian Distilled Spirits Awards, and we are thrilled with how distillers have embraced this competition since it was introduced in 2015.”

“We’ve seen record growth, interest and participation, and encourage the industry to once again get behind the awards to showcase their innovation and distilling excellence before entries close on Friday 7 June.”
