David Jones has joined with Byron Bay Cookie Company to fund an indigenous literacy program through a bespoke charity cookie.

The Choc Chunk biscuit will be launched as part of a national fundraising campaign for the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF), and will be sold at every David Jones point-of-sale until 29 May.

A donation of $2 from every purchase will be made to the ALNF to fund an indigenous literacy program in Forster NSW.

David Jones CEO David Thomas said indigenous children were three times less likely to meet the minimum literacy and numeracy standards, and he was keen to help as part of the company's 'Our Good Business Journey' strategy.
