Campari’s bespoke cocktail event in Sydney this week to celebrate the launch of its Campari Red Diaries campaign* took guests on a sensory journey and tapped into the personalisation trend.

 

Thalita Alves, one of Campari’s signature bartenders for the new campaign, shed light on the way that our drinks can be inspired by our favourite stories.

 

A week prior to the event, guests were asked to submit a description of their favourite memory from which Thalita would draw inspiration for creating their unique cocktail.

 

Thalita, who has been named as 'The One to Watch 2016' by Australian Bartender Magazine, engaged each guest in conversation as she mixed their personalised drink, commenting on the relationship between each ingredient and its significance to the memory provided.

 

In my case, Thalita brought souvenirs of Scandinavian adventures to life in a drink she called ‘The Red Memory’. With creative prowess, she concocted a Campari cocktail of ingredients that captured the essence of magical snowflakes, icy waters, gingerbread streets, pastel pink skies and sparkling fairy lights.

The one-on-one sessions with Thalita were held in Della Hyde, Darlinghurst, an underground venue reminiscent of hotel bars of a bygone era. The glow of frosted light bulbs and deep red carpeted floors created an intimate atmosphere, and conjured up a sense of being at a mystery holiday destination.

 

Campari was the plane and Thalita the pilot, and together they took each guest on a trip down memory lane.
