Hawkins Watts Australia (HWA) has signed a distribution agreement with Olam Food Ingredients (ofi) to supply cocoa ingredients in Australia, extending a relationship the two companies have had in New Zealand for more than 10 years.

Under the agreement, HWA will distribute ofi’s range of cocoa powders, cocoa liquors and cocoa butters, including products from its deZaan brand. The ingredients will be held locally and available ex-stock.

HWA said ofi’s presence across key cocoa growing regions would help manufacturers manage continuity of supply, as the global cocoa supply chain continues to face volatility.

“Supplying cocoa powder, cocoa liquor and cocoa butter products is a complementary extension to our current offering, and will help streamline manufacturers’ procurement strategies and enhance the level of service they receive,” Hawkins Watts Australia Commercial and Marketing Manager, Amanda Thomas, said.

HWA distributes food, beverage and nutrition ingredients across Australia and New Zealand. It holds BRC accreditation in New Zealand and HACCP accreditation in Australia, and has on-site blending capabilities and a technical team that provides formulation support.

ofi is an operating group of Singapore-listed Olam Group, with businesses in cocoa, coffee, dairy, nuts and spices. Its operations include farming, farm-gate origination and manufacturing.
