New networking events

Visitors, conference delegates and exhibitors are invited to relax, unwind, and mingle at FoodTech Qld’s two networking events:

Poolside Welcome Party
Wednesday 6 July at The Star

The purpose of FoodTech Qld is to bring the food industry together. After years without face-to-face events, the organisers are determined to do this in style.

The Poolside Welcome Party takes place on the evening of 6 July, before Day 1 of FoodTech, at The Star Gold Coast, with drinks, canapes, and live music from DJ Lauren.

Networking Drinks:
Thursday 7 July at the Home of the Arts (HOTA)

Attendees can take a nice break after a busy Day 1 and connect with peers over cocktails and canapes at HOTA cultural precinct, surrounded by parklands and lakes with a Surfers Paradise backdrop. Live music by Jerome Williams will feature.

PIDA Awards

The 2022 Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design Awards (PIDA) gala event will be held on the show floor and streamed nationally on Friday, 8 July.

There are 14 awards up for grabs, across a range of categories as well as individual and special awards.

Coordinated by the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP), the PIDA Awards are the exclusive award program for all Australia and New Zealand entries into the prestigious WorldStar Packaging Awards.

Award finalists will be on display for visitors to browse on the show floor throughout the event.

Packaging News

The ACCC has instituted court proceedings against Clorox Australia, owner of GLAD-branded kitchen and garbage bags, over alleged false claims that bags were partly made of recycled 'ocean plastic'.

In news that is disappointing but not surprising given the recent reports on the unfolding Qenos saga, the new owner of Qenos has placed the company into voluntary administration. The closure of the Qenos Botany facility has also been confirmed.

An agreement struck between Cleanaway and Viva Energy will see the two companies undertake a prefeasibility assessment of a circular solution for soft plastics and other hard-to-recycle plastics.
