As brands seek packaging solutions that balance sustainability with production performance, fibre-based formats continue to evolve. At foodpro 2026, Lindy Hughson spoke with Mark Rohrlach, regional sales manager – Industrial at Detpak, about two packaging innovations that demonstrate how design and manufacturing advances are helping brands transition away from difficult-to-recycle materials.

Among the highlights are a fibre punnet developed for Perfection Fresh's cherry tomatoes, designed to match the line efficiency of conventional plastic formats while remaining kerbside recyclable, and a premium flour bag produced for Goodman Fielder using inline cold foil printing. Rohrlach explains how the new process retains the visual appeal of foil embellishment while delivering a fully kerbside-recyclable paper pack.
