From the back streets of Surry Hills to the chilled vibe of Byron Bay, the brand Farmer Jo is setting its sights on the US market with retail giant Walmart.

“We’re making like Eddie Murphy and coming to America,” CEO and co-founder Scott Tulloch said.

Farmer Jo will be ranging its granola with Walmart business Sam’s Club, its membership warehouse club offering superior products, savings, and services to millions of members in nearly 600 clubs across the US.

“This is a massive opportunity for a small business like us, whose business plan is simply planning to be successful,” Tulloch said.

Tulloch said the deal is the culmination of chilling away at opportunities in the US for years.

“We always dreamed of one day taking our wee business to America, the home of granola and being able to fly the Aussie flag there. Hopefully this is just the beginning of our venture into North America,” he said.

He was quick to add that Australia will remain Farmer Jo’s home. “Australia is our home and our bread and butter. It is the foundation to any success we have worldwide.

“This opportunity is only possible because of the local customers, distributors, retailers, and buyers that took a chance on us, and let us influence their breakfast offer.

“Sally and I are just two people who had a go at chasing their dream with no money and only blind ambition to make breakfast products for people like us,” he said.
