With funding from the Victorian Government, Geelong food manufacturer, Farm Foods Australia has expanded production with advanced manufacturing technology and equipment.

Farm Foods Australia was established by the Kerr Brothers, who started processing meat in Brookley, Melbourn in 1996 (now JBS Swift) and Colac, Victoria (now Australian Lamb Company) in 1999. In 2003, Farm Foods Australia began in Birregurra, Victoria, and has expanded ever since. In 2005, it started wholesale distribution of “retail ready” packaged products.

By 2024, it had two operations operating over 10,000 square metres.

With funding form the Victorian government through its Regional Development department, Farm Foods’ manufacturing plant in Breakwater has expanded production capacity and created 24 new jobs by upgrading its food processing plant.

Upgrades to machinery have seen production increase from 20 to 30 trays per minute and improve sales.

Farm Foods Australia managing director, Greg Hughes, said, “Continuing the integration of cutting-edge technology is critical and has not only facilitated higher production output but has also contributed to improvements in both consistency and quality.

“The investment has also led to the creation of new product formats and sales into new market channels.”

Farm Foods Australia now supplies meat products to all major retailers across Australia with the expansion helping to meet growing demand for the business’ high-quality products.
