A trade event for the drinks industry will treat visitors to wine masterclasses and a spirit-tasting forum when it opens in Sydney next week.

Called The Drinks Industry Show, it runs over two days on 26 and 27 June at Crystal Palace in Luna Park, Sydney.

The masterclasses and tasting forum, to be held on the second day, are the latest additions to the show, which is free to industry professionals and back for its second year after a successful debut.

David Paterson, event director with Exhibitions and Trade Fairs (ETF), the organiser of The Drinks Industry Show, said the morning would be dedicated to wine, with spirits the focus in the afternoon.

"Under the direction of event curator Ben Davidson, we've secured engaging, knowledgeable, ‘top-shelf’ experts to lead these sessions,” he said.

The masterclasses begin with a look inside beverage education programs offered; followed by a class on Italian Pinot Grigio.

The afternoon’s sprit-tasting forum begins with a session on Australian gin and other craft spirits, before moving into a session on agave spirits, covering the latest information about mezcal.

The afternoon spirit education and tasting forum finishes with The World Whisk(e)y Smackdown, where attendees can taste examples of leading whisky styles from Scotland, Ireland, the US, Canada, Japan and Australia.
