The liquor industry event co-locating with Fine Food Australia in September will tackle consumer demand for premium beverages head on.

Organisers say consumers are moving towards drinking less, but are spending more with the expectation of higher quality, so the need for innovation is strong.

Commercial Drinks is a new on-premise liquor industry event, and Nigel Weisbaum of Archie Rose Distilling Co. (pictured) has been appointed as the official spirits ambassador.

Weisbaum joins the already appointed commercial drinks beer partner Kirrily Waldhorn of The Beer Diva, and drinks education curator David Messum of consultancy Just the Drop.

The three experts will craft an educational program that covers the most pertinent issues and challenges faced by bars, clubs, restaurants, cafes and any other business licensed to serve alcohol on-premise.

Issues covered will include drinks list profitability, pairing drinks with food, how to get the best out of staff, and the pros and cons of supplier contracts.

The full Winterhalter Speakeasy Stage educational program will be announced shortly.

Commercial Drinks will take place over four days at the newly built ICC in Sydney, and is co-located with Fine Food Australia from 11 to 14 September.

Australian-headquartered, global fibre-based packaging manufacturer The Detmold Group has opened a 19,000-square-metre manufacturing and warehousing facility in India.

Orora’s Australian cans operation has delivered another year of strong growth, helping the packaging group maintain steady underlying earnings despite challenging conditions across the glass market.
