Chr. Hansen has launched its global online platform providing educational and scientific content on probiotics and the human microbiome, targeted to B2B customers and healthcare professionals.

The Probiotics Institute by Chr. Hansen is a dedicated platform delivering scientific information about the usage and benefits of probiotics for all ages, as well as a guide for choosing the right probiotics for a product

“We are excited to launch this platform across a number of important markets to provide an even better service and inspiration to our B2B customers and health care professionals,” said Chr. Hansen health & nutrition executive vice president Christian Barker.

“We have a strategic ambition to shape the global probiotics market through scientific leadership and expansion into new B2B customer groups and segments, and this initiative should be seen as a step in that direction.”

Currently, there are around 55 million search hits on probiotics online, the company said, and “it can be hard to find science-based information from trustworthy sources”.

Kevin Mehring, senior vice president for Human Health, Chr. Hansen said the team understands it can be challenging for healthcare professionals and business partners to “distinguish reliable evidence from many conflicting scientific studies of varying quality”.

“We want to help them make informed choices in the probiotic jungle. We will do this by providing high-quality content on The Probiotics Institute, relevant for professionals needing information, scientific data or educational content within the field of probiotics,” said Mehring.

The Probiotics Institute will provide science-backed content on subjects including human microbiome, infant health, immune health, general information on probiotics and scientific studies data.

The resource is available in English, with Chr. Hansen also releasing The Probiotics Institute (China) available in Mandarin and designed specifically to meet the needs of the Chinese market.

Accessibility of The Probiotics Institute in several more languages will also soon be rolled out by Chr. Hansen.
