Simplot Australia is rolling out Australia’s new Country of Origin Labelling (CoOL) early on its Edgell and Chiko products.

The company is getting in ahead of the 30 June 2018 deadline, it says, in a bid to help consumers to support local farmers and businesses.

The new labels are already starting to appear on Simplot products such as Edgell canned vegetables and its savoury snack, the Chiko Roll, as well as other Chiko products.

Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister, Luke Hartsuyker, and the Member for Calare, Andrew Gee, have visited Simplot Australia in Bathurst in the Central Tablelands of NSW to see Australia’s new Country of Origin Labelling (CoOL) changes in action.

“We want to help businesses with the process, with a range of assistance available including an online tool to help them identify appropriate labelling for their products,” Gee said.

With this in mind, he said, an online tool to help companies identify appropriate labelling for their products, and other support for businesses, is available at business.gov.au/foodlabels or by calling the contact centre on 13 28 46.
