The category of children's bottled water will grow at a rate of seven per cent per year due to increasing health and wellness concerns.

This was the finding of researcher Zenith International, which recently published a report on children's bottled water innovation.

It profiled 70 brands across six regions and found that the Asia Pacific was currently the leading region for children's bottled water sales, and this type of product commanded a higher price than mainstream bottled waters.

"Increasing awareness of the need for good hydration and greater concerns about child obesity means that children's bottled water is in an extremely strong position for continued rapid growth," Zenith chairman Richard Hall said.

"Smaller bottle sizes with fun caps and characters make bottled water even more appealing on the go and in school.”
