Beston is ramping up cheese exports in Asia with the first shipment of cheese produced directly for the Singapore market now en route.

The shipment of 20 tonnes of cheddar and gouda cheeses for Lacto Asia in Singapore is in addition to cheese sent to Singapore for processing into the fruit-flavoured Kyubu cheese (pictured), which is distributed through China, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

The company, which also ships dairy products to Malta, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Japan and South Korea, also hopes to significantly boost sales across Australia’s Eastern Seaboard, with the focus on its Edwards Crossing range

The former United Dairy Power milk-processing factory was purchased from receivership and then re-opened by Beston in September 2015.

It's the busiest-ever period of activity since the purchase, according to Beston’s chairman Dr Roger Sexton, who said cheese consumption throughout Asia was expanding at a rapid rate.

The company plans to introduce a new Mozzarella plant later this year.
