The founder of Adelaide Hills condiment, sauce and jam company, Beerenberg Family Farm, has passed away aged 74.

According to a statement from his family on Monday, Grant Paech passed away after a long illness.

“A great character, he will be missed by many, especially of course his wife Carol, children Anthony, Robert and Sally and his six young grandchildren,” the statement said.

Grant Paech started the business on his Hahndorf farm in the Adelaide Hills in 1970s, and the company went on to become a multi-million-dollar company and a global export success story.

The company is still run by the Paech family, led by Anthony Paech, its managing director.

Beerenberg is best known for the little jars of jam that it supplies to airlines and hotels in Australia and around the world.

The company also sells dozens of regular-sized premium sauce, condiment and jam products.
