Brianna Casey has stepped up as the new CEO of Foodbank Australia.

Casey joins the food relief organisation after serving in leadership roles with the NSW Farmers and Queensland Farmers’ Federation, as well as the Australian Childcare Alliance of NSW.

Former CEO Jason Hincks left Foodbank in February and was replaced by interim CEO Geoff Starr until Casey's appointment last week.

The Foodbank Hunger Report has revealed that hunger is reaching “crisis levels” in Australia, with charities having to turn people away due to a shortage of food.

Casey has experience in advocacy and policy, with networks across government and industry.

Foodcare is set to acquire UPAC, a manufacturer and distributor of food packaging including printed bags and flexibles, in a move the company says will strengthen its offering in the packaging sector.
