Chocolate snowball maker, Betta Foods, has followed in the footsteps of its Melbourne confectionery counterpart, Ernest Hillier, and entered voluntary administration.

Like Hillier's, which went into voluntary administration last week, it was also owned by British restructuring firm Re:Capital. It bought Hilliers in February and Betta Foods in October last year, with a view to creating a bigger business.

Betta Foods makes Capricorn licorice, Eskimo chocolate snowballs and ice cream cones and has revenues of around $40 million.

Like Hillier's, the company is continuing to trade in the hope it can be sold as a going concern.

The voluntary administrator of both companies is the accounting firm Cor Cordis.
