Queensland foodservice wholesaler Prime Cut Meats has been acquired by Andrews Meat Industries (AMI), the family-managed business that forms part of JBS Australia. The move expands AMI’s protein supply capabilities in Queensland and northern New South Wales and is expected to lift the business to more than $650 million turnover in the next financial year.

AMI CEO Peter Andrews said Prime Cut Meats’ strong service reputation and long-standing customer relationships made the business a natural fit for the group.

“PCM has a strong reputation for service and quality, and AMI will bring further value to the operation by helping to increase that capacity and capability.

“We’re pleased to welcome the Prime Cut Meats team into the Andrews Meat family,” Andrews said.

Established in 2007, Prime Cut Meats supplies premium beef, lamb, pork and specialty proteins to restaurants, hotels, caterers and foodservice operators in Brisbane and throughout Queensland. Managers Laurie Marguglio and Nick Zanapalis said joining AMI provides the scale and capability needed to support a growing foodservice market.

AMI became part of JBS Australia in 2014 when the Andrews family sold a majority shareholding in their then $95 million business. The company has since expanded across domestic, export and cooked-food divisions, supported by JBS’ investment in processing, logistics and customer solutions.

JBS Australia CEO, Brent Eastwood, said the acquisition aligns with the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its foodservice offering.

“This initiative demonstrates JBS’ commitment to investing in businesses that share our focus on quality, service and customer relationships. By supporting Andrews Meat Industries and Prime Cut Meats, we are enhancing our ability to deliver premium protein solutions across the eastern seaboard,” Eastwood said.

The acquisition will allow Prime Cut Meats to expand product availability and distribution reach while maintaining its existing customer focus.

ACOR is calling on the Government to urgently introduce packaging reforms or risk the collapse of Australia’s plastic recycling sector and face millions of tonnes of plastic waste polluting the environment.

As 2025 draws to a close, it is clear the packaging sector has undergone one of its most consequential years in over a decade. Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
