Supermarket chain Aldi was forced to issue a recall of its hot dog rolls this week after metal shavings were detected inside some of its products.
Consumers who bought Aldi's six-pack Bakers Life hot dog rolls with a best-before date of 14 July were urged to return the product to the store.
The rolls, packaged in a 450g plastic bag, were sold in Aldi's NSW and ACT stores.
"The recall is due to the potential presence of foreign objects, metal shavings, in the product," Aldi's recall notice said.
"Food products containing foreign objects may cause injury if consumed."
The NSW Food Authority says any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
"Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund," a spokesman says.
Aldi is reportedly conducting a close investigation with the supplier of the product and is collaborating with food safety regulating authorities.
Aldi also had to recall its eight-pack Hillcrest Chewy Choc Squiggle Muesli Bars earlier this month, which had an undeclared allergen (peanuts).
The bars, with a best-before date of 10 May, 2017, were sold at supermarkets in NSW, QLD, ACT, VIC, SA and WA.
