South Australia’s 23rd Street Distillery says it has bounced back after recent Riverland floods at the highly competitive New York International Spirits Competition, where it won Australian Distillery of the Year.

The distillery's commitment to craftsmanship and innovation was further showcased as their spirits received numerous medals, including two Golds for their Australian Single Malt Whisky and Mulberry Gin and their recently launched Tropical Gin along with famed Violet Gin picked up two silvers.

The awards have come at a pivotal time for the Distillery as trade was heavily impacted by the recent Riverland flooding event.

The company says the win not only reflects the mastery of 23rd Street Distillery but also underscores its commitment to producing spirits of unmatched quality and unique flavour profiles.

Head distiller, Paul Burnett, emphasised that every step, from the Kangaroo Island barley to the distillation and maturation process, is a unique aspect of 23rd Street's whisky production.

"The Riverland is the perfect climate for the maturation of our Australian Single Malt Whisky, creating intensity and unique flavour, especially when compared to whisky maturing in cooler climates."

To further add to the distillery's recent accolades, 23rd Street’s Signature Gin was recently awarded a prestigious Double Gold medal at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
