The new precinct is next to Bega Cheese’s fresh yogurt processing facility (previously Lion Dairy & Drinks) and is one part of a $266 million package to stimulate economic growth, create jobs and grow local businesses following the closure of Hazelwood Power Station.

The Gippsland region’s food and fibre sector is worth around $7 billion, with the government sees the investment as catalyst for broader economic development in the area.

At 89 hectares, the site can accommodate up to 44 prime industrial lots and is expected to have around 1700 manufacturing jobs once up and running.

The funds will be used to manage greater water and energy demands, and vital construction upgrades such as the connection of power, water and sewage along with building better access to the site to help facilitate the movement of heavy vehicles and manufacturing equipment.
