Woolworths is bringing back its Cinnabon Cake, with news it will be staying on the shelves as a permanent item in its bakery range.

It was launched as a limited-edition last year and, according to the retailer, sold more than 55,000 cakes in five days.

Woolworths Bakery merchandise manager, Donald Keith, said consumers have been asking about the cake ever since.

“The overwhelming feedback made it clear that a limited run wasn’t enough. We’ve listened, and we’re excited to finally make this iconic treat a permanent fixture in our aisles for everyone to enjoy year-round,” Keith said.

The cake features a sponge swirled with Cinnabon’s cinnamon spice, finished with a layer of cream cheese frosting.

GoTo Foods, which owns the Cinnabon brand, said the move reflects a broader push to expand into new formats via retail partners hips.

GoTo Foods president International and Retail Channels Licensing, Dave Mikita, said the response last year was “exceptional”.

“Establishing it as a permanent offering at Woolworths is a huge moment for our brand and reflects our continued focus on bringing our iconic brands into new formats around the world,” Mikita said.

Other Cinnabon-flavoured product will appear as part of Woolworths’ seasonal line-up. The Cinnabon Hot Cross Bun range will continue until Easter.

The Cinnabon Cake will be available at all Woolworths supermarkets and Metro stores nationwide for RRP $10.00.
