Mudgee-based Three Tails Brewery has launched its latest brew, celebrating Australian summers spent in the sunshine – with the release of its new Backyard Pacific Ale.

A Pacific Ale that’s light, crisp and refreshing, Backyard was made by Three Tails Brewery head brewer, Jono Beazley, using 100 per cent organic regenerative malt and hops from New South Wales producers, including Voyager in Griffith and Ryefield in Bemboka, on the far South Coast.

The beer is described as having tropical, citrus notes, with a softer body of oats, wheat and chit malt, and a rounded, silky mouthfeel. The unique can design is also an homage to traditional Australian summers, featuring a host of native animals enjoying a barbeque next to a Hills Hoist, overlooking Mudgee’s hills.

“The Backyard Pacific Ale is the ultimate summer beer. It’s easy drinking, super refreshing and it looks great in the glass - it’s really just the perfect all-around brew,” said Beazley.

“We’ve paid tribute to the incredible produce we have in our own backyard with this new release. New South Wales is home to some of the highest quality malt and hops in the world – these producers are independent, small operators, focused on craft, quality and partnership – all mantras that align with our ethos at Three Tails.

“We are passionate about using outstanding local produce and supporting aligned small businesses with our beers - Backyard Pacific Ale is a tribute to that mission.”

Backyard Pacific Ale joins a host of new beers for the Mudgee brewery, including Mixed Berries, a berry-infused sour, and Samurai, a Japanese-style rice lager.

Backyard Pacific Ale is now available at Three Tails Brewery and select Central West New South Wales suppliers.

Packaging News

The World Packaging Organisation has named 234 winners for the WorldStar Packaging Awards 2026, which were selected from 481 entries submitted across 36 countries.

ACOR is calling on the Government to urgently introduce packaging reforms or risk the collapse of Australia’s plastic recycling sector and face millions of tonnes of plastic waste polluting the environment.

As 2025 draws to a close, it is clear the packaging sector has undergone one of its most consequential years in over a decade. Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
