Tasmanian Bakeries brand, National Pies, is rolling out a fan-favourite flavour in Woolworths stores across Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania and select locations in New South Wales – the Cheeseburger Pie.

First introduced in 2022, the Cheeseburger Pie quickly became an overnight sensation and set records as National Pies’ best-performing limited release at cafes. The company brought the pie back for a limited run at Bunnings Warehouse cafes in March 2026, where it once again proved to be a standout favourite with customers.

National Pies crafted the Cheeseburger Pie using 100 per cent Australian beef, a signature dash of tomato ketchup and American-style mustard. The recipe includes dill pickle juice and a rich cheese sauce, all encased in National Pies’ famous 128 layers of crispy puff pastry, topped with poppy seeds and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.

The company uses a unique air-removal packaging technology designed to lock in bakery-fresh quality for longer, allowing National Pies to be delivered directly from the Hobart bakery to the Woolworths refrigerated ready-made meal aisles without being frozen. Available in a twin pack, National Pies Cheeseburger Pies are ready in just 15 minutes.

Tasmanian Bakeries CEO, Geraldine Tebbutt, said strong demand for the Cheeseburger Pie at Bunnings Warehouse, paved the way for the cheesy savoury to become a convenient new household favourite.

“We’re delighted the Cheeseburger Pie has once again become a best-selling limited time offer at Bunnings which allows us to expand its run so fans can conveniently enjoy this delicious pie at home,” said Tebbutt.

“Making the Cheeseburger Pie available for consumers to enjoy at home has been in development for some time. Its recent limited run at Bunnings Warehouse confirmed for all of us that the timing is right.

“We’re hearing more and more that convenience and quality are key when it comes to home meal preparation, which is why the Cheeseburger Pie can be found in the refrigerated or ready-meals aisles. The pies are delivered direct to Woolworths, fresh-sealed from our Tasmanian bakery, and can be baked at home in an air fryer or conventional oven in just 15 minutes.”

The Cheeseburger Pie is now available at Woolworths, and the National Pies range can also be found across Coles, Woolworths, and leading independent retailers nationwide.
