South Australian winery, St Hugo, has released its collection of 2023 vintages, including the St Hugo Eden Valley Riesling, St Hugo Chardonnay and St Hugo Grenache Shiraz Mataro.

The company stated that although the 2023 vintage in both the Barossa and Eden Valley was challenging, with cool temperatures resulting in harvest being pushed out 3-4 weeks later than usual, the Spring rains supported a strong budburst and healthy canopy, as well as a full moisture soil profile as the Summer temperatures kicked in.

The aromatics of the 2023 St Hugo Eden Valley Riesling layer Jasmin florals, kaffia lime, citrus blossom, lemon and subtle musk. The palate displays a "delightfully generous" lemon citrus fruit, lavender florals and lemon sherbert.

The 2023 St Hugo Eden Valley Chardonnay was 60 per cent whole-bunch pressed with fermentation in a mixture of new and older French oak barrels. There’s aromas of peach and hazelnut with yellow stone fruit and sweet spice on the palate.

An aroma of spice, raspberry, and blueberry define the 2023 St Hugo GSM blend, which features 64 per cent Grenache, 30 per cent Shiraz and 6 per cent Mataro sourced from three vineyards in the Barossa Valley, with Grenache vines spanning 60 to 100 years.

The new collection can be purchased from Liquorland and independent retailers.
