Potato Utopia is expanding its Gratin range with the launch of two new flavours – Mozzarella Hot Honey and Parmesan & Black Pepper.

Gratin is a French technique, preparing thinly sliced layers of potato with cream and cheese and baking in a shallow dish until golden brown, more often thought of as potato bake in Australia.

Potato Utopia aims to make perfectly portioned and delicious Gratins accessible to the grocery sector. With over 4 million retail packs sold annually and growing, the company is going strong.

Made using purpose-grown potatoes selected specifically for Gratin performance through an exclusive Belgian supply chain, the dishes are carefully crafted for consistency and quality. Grown in soil and climate conditions that produce full-flavour varieties not available in Australia, the potatoes deliver a naturally creamier texture and richer flavour without relying on excessive fats or flavour enhancers.

The new flavours join the existing range of Four Cheese and Spinach & Ricotta, and include;

  • Mozzarella Hot Honey – layers of potato and cream melt into gooey mozzarella, finished with a touch of hot honey for a subtle sweet-heat hit.
  • Parmesan & Black Pepper – thinly sliced potatoes layered with cream, nutty Parmesan and cracked black pepper.

The company stated: “With no preparation, stress, slicing, mixing or waiting involved, Potato Utopia’s new flavour variations of its popular Gratin only require two steps: cook and serve.

“The result is a consistently perfect gratin, ready to be enjoyed as the “wow” side – versatile, crowd pleasing and better than homemade.”

The new Mozzarella Hot Honey and Parmesan & Black Pepper Potato Gratins are exclusively available at Woolworths, for RRP $7.50.

Industry leaders have renewed calls for national packaging reform, warning that Australia's manufacturing resilience, recycling investment and sovereign capability remain vulnerable without policy action to create demand for locally recycled content and provide a more level competitive playing field.

Australia's emerging soft plastics recycling infrastructure is ready to process significantly more material, according to Soft Plastic Stewardship Australia, which has launched a three-month campaign aimed at boosting consumer returns and strengthening domestic supply of recycled resin.

PKN’s latest print issue is hitting desks and landing in inboxes, bringing readers up to speed with the people, technologies and innovations shaping packaging, printing and processing across Australia and beyond.
