Award winning Elato Gelato has partnered with Pistachio Papi to create the limited-edition Quattro Pistachio Explosion. The team say it is a world first gelato, combining four different pistachio elements in every tub.

Pistachio Papi co-founder and head of marketing, Mark Abdelmalik, said, “It’s indulgent, it’s fun, and it contains substantially more pistachio than you’ll find in any pistachio gelato in a supermarket or in gourmet gelaterias.”

The gelato combines:

  • A creamy pistachio base with 30% more pistachios than most Italian gelaterias;
  • caramelised pistachio pieces mixed throughout;
  • Pistachio Papi’s famous pistachio spread in the form of a ripple on the outside edge of the tub; and
  • a hard-shell topping made from the same spread, finished with even more caramelised pistachios.

Pistachio Papi co-owner Patrick LaManna said his family’s Italian heritage means gelato is a part of who they are.

“We knew this gelato had to be special, so we spent over six months working with Elato to get every detail right,” La Manna said.

Behind the scenes, the collaboration also marked what they are calling a world-first manufacturing achievement, with production requiring a specific machine capable of creating this unique gelato. Conveniently based in Melbourne, it was imported from Italy by Aurora Foods to produce “next-level” products.

It will be in 660 Coles stores across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia as well as LaManna Supermarket at Essendon Fields.

The limited-edition gelato will be available for 11 weeks only or until stock runs out.

Packaging News

The World Packaging Organisation has named 234 winners for the WorldStar Packaging Awards 2026, which were selected from 481 entries submitted across 36 countries.

ACOR is calling on the Government to urgently introduce packaging reforms or risk the collapse of Australia’s plastic recycling sector and face millions of tonnes of plastic waste polluting the environment.

As 2025 draws to a close, it is clear the packaging sector has undergone one of its most consequential years in over a decade. Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
