Food rescue organisation, OzHarvest, has launched a range of food and beverages tackling Australia’s food waste problem under its social enterprise arm, OzHarvest Ventures. Oh! for OzHarvest transforms surplus produce into beverages, spreads, and sauces to save it from landfill.

With 7.6 million tonnes of food lost in Australia each year, OzHarvest is reviving and reimagining surplus ingredients to make a difference. OzHarvest founder, Ronni Kahn, said OzHarvest Ventures is about being disruptive and using innovation to solve challenges.

“OzHarvest Ventures is showing how business can be a force for good,” said Kahn.

“Every time someone chooses Oh! for OzHarvest, they’re backing farmers, cutting food waste, and helping OzHarvest feed those who need it most. You’re not just buying a product, you are part of a conscious movement supporting social enterprise.”

Lemons, ginger, and strawberries feature in the zesty Oh! Lemonaid, rescued berries are turned into rich Oh! Jams, and tomatoes and cayenne chillies become punchy Oh! Chilli Sauce. Every can, jar and bottle sold supports local farmers, saves ingredients from landfill, and provides a nourishing meal for someone in need – with profits supporting OzHarvest.

The project works directly with farmers and Queensland-based company, Second Squeeze, which manufactures the products.

Second Squeeze co-founder, Michael Paull, said the company takes what others overlook and turn it into flavour worth celebrating.

“It’s proof that waste can be reimagined into something delicious, innovative and good for the planet,” said Paull.

“When OzHarvest Ventures came to us with an idea to turn unloved lemons into lemonade, we said absolutely, and now we’re proud to see so many enjoying Oh! Lemonaid in three delicious flavours.”

Oh! Lemonaid, Oh! Jams, and Oh! Chilli Sauce are available at selected venues and cafes, distributors and on-premise. The full range is available to purchase online at shop.ozharvest.org for national delivery.
