Scapegrace Distilling Co. has made New Zealand’s iconic Scapegrace Black available in a new ready-to-drink format, and will be packaged in the country's first ever colour-changing can.
Scapegrace Black went viral when it launched in 2018, receiving huge domestic and international attention for its black shade, which changes colour to shades of pink, blue and purple depending on the mixers added.
“Scapegrace Black has always done things nobody has seen before,” said Mark Neal, co-founder of Scapegrace.
“When we launched Scapegrace Black, the response was beyond anything we imagined, it sold out in a week and took on a life of its own. That same spirit is what's gone into this can.”
According to Neal, the can has been created using UV-reactive ink and will subtly change colour when exposed to sunlight.
“A special gin needs a special can and we’re proud that Scapegrace Black will get to continue its colour changing tradition,” he said.
“We know there’s huge pent-up demand for this product. Scapegrace Black is our most loved expression – it has built a cult following and we’re looking forward to seeing consumers enjoy our viral gin in a RTD format.”
Scapegrace Black is made from a blend of botanicals, including aronia berry, saffron, pineapple, butterfly pea flower and sweet potato, which work together to create a naturally black brew.
Anyone who purchases a pack during the launch window will go in the draw to win a trip to the Scapegrace Distillery in Central Otago.
Scapegrace Black Gin & Tonic RTD is now available nationwide (330ml, 10-pack RRP: $29.99).
