New Zealand-based Little Oak Company’s baby formula range has been certified as the world’s first palm oil free baby formula. The all-natural product is made from goat’s milk and has low levels of lactose.

The baby formula range gained its certification from the International Palm Oil Free Certification Accreditation Programme, where Little Oak Company founder Elke Pascoe said it was necessary to create products that care equally for young ones as well as the world.

“Palm oil inhibits the absorption of calcium, fats and essential Omega 3 fatty acids – three essentials elements for a baby’s development, so we had to remove it. And it was for similar reasons that we looked to replace canola,” said Pascoe.

“We are the first in the world to use flaxseed oil in infant formula, so we are really proud of our range.”

The LittleOak range has formulas suited across four age ranges – zero to six months, six to 12 months, from one year and from four years.

It is now available in Ritchies, Go Supermarket, FoodWorks and specialist pharmacies around the country and online.
