MILKLAB has unveiled a reformulated Lactose Free, developed using ultrafiltration technology to deliver superior taste, texture and health benefits for the growing number of Australians seeking lighter, more easily digestible dairy milk options.

The launch also marks MILKLAB's national retail expansion, with the new Lactose Free rolling out into Woolworths supermarkets – opening the barista milk brand to a new generation of café and at-home consumers.

MILKLAB Lactose Free has been rebuilt from the ground up using ultrafiltration technology for superior taste and performance.

Ultrafiltration works by gently separating milk components using a fine filter, concentrating protein and fat while reducing lactose (sugar), resulting in a smoother, creamier milk with noticeably better texture and performance in coffee.

MILKLAB Lactose Free is available in Woolworths in a 1L format, as well as across thousands of Australian cafés nationwide.

The result is MILKLAB Lactose Free – a premium dairy milk with high protein and lower sugar, and a full cream dairy milk that doesn’t compromise on the taste or texture baristas and consumers expect.

The breakthrough is the culmination of three years of dedicated work by MILKLAB's product development team, refined through successive iterations, industry consultation, 12 rounds of trials and consumer testing in partnership with Deakin University, and a rigorous process of roaster validation to lock in a Lactose Free milk that performs in every cup.

“We're really proud of our reformulated MILKLAB Lactose Free,” said Natalie Latimore, head of marketing at MILKLAB.

“After several years of working closely with baristas and coffee experts, and putting the product through extensive testing, our new ultrafiltration technology has delivered the much-loved taste of full cream dairy milk, in Lactose Free form.

“Innovation at MILKLAB is not about getting it ‘good enough’. It’s about continuing the process until it’s perfected. MILKLAB has been built on working hand in hand with roasters, baristas and now our retail partners, so that by the time it reaches a customer's cup or shopping trolley, the final product has been perfected.”

MILKLAB’s retail push marks a strategic shift for the company, opening the brand to new at-home consumption occasions. It follows a period of strong growth across MILKLAB's plant-based range and dairy and nutritionals portfolio.

MILKLAB Lactose Free is now available in Woolworths in a 1L format, with continued distribution across thousands of Australian cafés nationwide.

MILKLAB is one of the dairy and plant-based milk brands of leading Australian food and beverage company, Noumi.
