Maison Mumm has looked to Tasmania for the first time to create the newest sparkling wine in the Mumm Terroir range, releasing Mumm Tasmania.

The Mumm Terroir series celebrates wine regions known for producing pinot noir, building on Maison Mumm’s 200-year history of crafting pinot noir forward wines.

Tasmania’s maritime climate is ideal for creating sparkling wines with complexity. Maison Mumm says each of the sparkling wines in the series celebrate the regions terroir.

Mumm Tasmania Brut Pristige joins the Mumm Marlborough Brut Prestige and Mumm Marlborough Vintage Rosé from New Zealand that launched in 2020.

Mumm Tasmania is a sophisticated sparkling wine with intensity, complexity and vibrancy revealing a pinot noir dominated blend.

The new Mumm Tasmania sparkling is created in collaboration between champagne house G.H. Mumm and wine producer Pernod Ricard Winemakers.

Pernod Ricard Winemakers Group White and Sparkling Winemaker, Trina Smith, worked closely with G.H. Mumm Chef de Caves, Laurent Fresnet, to perfect Mumm Tasmania, with Fresnet travelling to Australia to see the 2022 vintage wines and the quality of the vineyards in northern Tasmania.

Fresnet said, “Partnering with Trina opened up knowledge of the terroir and producers to source the best grapes. With Mumm Tasmania, we are revealing a new expression of pinot noir.”

According to Wine Tasmania, 37 per cent of all grapes from the 2022 Tasmanian vintage are bound for sparkling wine production, set to grow in years ahead.

As of October, it was announced Tasmanian sparkling wine sales in the domestic off-trade has grown from $46M in July 2020 to $74M in July 2022.

Mumm Tasmania Brut Prestige is available for RRP $40, joining Mumm Marlborough Brut Prestige RRP $40 and Mumm Marlborough Vintage Rosé RRP $45. The wines are available at liquor retailers nationally.
