Food distributor, Viking Imports, has relaunched the hearty Sourdough Rye Crispbread from Finland Fazer Crisp, with a fresh new look and two new flavours. The new products are available in Rye, Dark Rye, Rye & Rosemary, and Rye & Roasted Pepper.

The iconic rye crispbread embodies the frigid water and salt of Finland. Dark Rye is bolder and sweeter than the original, with an intense flavour developed over several hours of baking. Rosemary complements its fragrance and freshness to the earthy rye in the Rye & Rosemary flavour, and pepper adds sweetness in Rye & Roasted Pepper.

Viking Imports managing director, Ivan Markovic, said the rebrand is thanks to the creative ways the crisps have been enjoyed and loved by many over the years – adorned with delicious toppings.

“From smoked salmon, dill and cream cheese through to Roquefort crème, pear and pomegranate, we have seen some serious kitchen creativity since 2008. It’s even perfect with a touch of butter and fine sea salt,” said Markovic.

“This rebrand is a great way to show more people how diverse these humble crisps can be, whilst celebrating high quality produce direct from Finland. Fazer Crisp is the not-so-secret ingredient for an easy meal, a quick snack or an elevated grazing platter.

“We’re listening to our customers’ preferences and taking a more health-conscious approach to our product. They’re high in fibre and protein, but low in carbs: a winning combo in the ‘health kick’ era we are in,” he said.

The Fazer Crisp Rye Crispbread range is available at independent stores around the country for RRP $4.99-$5.49.

Industry leaders have renewed calls for national packaging reform, warning that Australia's manufacturing resilience, recycling investment and sovereign capability remain vulnerable without policy action to create demand for locally recycled content and provide a more level competitive playing field.

Australia's emerging soft plastics recycling infrastructure is ready to process significantly more material, according to Soft Plastic Stewardship Australia, which has launched a three-month campaign aimed at boosting consumer returns and strengthening domestic supply of recycled resin.

PKN’s latest print issue is hitting desks and landing in inboxes, bringing readers up to speed with the people, technologies and innovations shaping packaging, printing and processing across Australia and beyond.
