Family owned wine company, De Bortoli Wines, has introduced the newest addition to its Woodfired range, the Woodfired Heathcote Tempranillo.

The Woodfired range has been acclaimed since its introduction in 2015, receiving 105 cumulative awards. Most recently, the Woodfired Heathcote Shiraz earned a gold medal at the UK International Wine Challenge, achieving a score of 95 points.

Sourced primarily from the company’s 80 Ha Heathcote Ridge vineyard, in the northern section of Heathcote, the Woodfired Heathcote Tempranillo benefits from the region's red Cambrian soils, ideal for producing rich, dark-fruited wines with a grainy texture.

Heathcote Ridge vineyard is De Bortoli’s most recent acquisition, and is mainly planted to Shiraz, with the company planning to add Grenache, Mourvedre and Grenache Blanc to the varietal mix soon. It primarily supplies the fruit for the company’s Villages and Woodfired brands.

The wine was destemmed and fermented at optimal temperatures over a period of 10-20 days, then matured in vats and casks for approximately five months.

Crafted by De Bortoli’s Yarra Valley Estate winemaker, Jono Thompson, the Woodfired Heathcote Tempranillo has a ripe dark cherry character, complemented by hints of cedarwood and coffee.

The Woodfired Heathcote Tempranillo is available online at shop.debortoli.com.au and in select retailers nationwide for RRP $21.95.
