Independent family-owned brewery, Coopers, has expanded its range of DIY brewing products, with the launch of a new small batch DIY brew kit.
As homebrewers across Australia move from the backyard garage into the home, the new Coopers DIY Small Batch brew kit comes with all the equipment and ingredients consumers need to start brewing their own beer.
Coopers marketing manager brewing products, Scott Harris, said homebrewing has traditionally taken place in the backyard shed, which provided plenty of room for large batches of DIY beer.
“Homebrewing is still very popular, particularly in times of significant cost-of-living pressures,” said Harris.
“Our homebrew sales have risen around 9 per cent over the past quarter. Now with smaller block sizes and people looking for more affordable, compact homes, space is at a premium. Homebrewers are increasingly seeking locations inside the home for their hobby, and a kitchen or laundry bench or other small space is perfect for small batch brewing.
“Our new DIY Small Batch brew kit is designed to produce 10 litres of beer, the equivalent of one carton, so takes up much less space than the larger kits. While there’s continued demand for large volume brewing, smaller batches are a great way to get started or if you want more flexibility to experiment without committing to a larger amount of one type of beer. You can save space and money and still enjoy great tasting beer at home,” he said.
The company has extended its DIY range to include the popular Coopers Lager and the first dedicated mid- strength, low-carb brewing extract to hit the market – Coopers Ultra Crisp – which has an ABV of 3.5% and only three grams of carbs per 375ml.
“Ultra Crisp is a new product on offer to homebrewers and has been designed to deliver a mid- strength, low carb lager style beer with lower bitterness,” said Harris.
“This is a DIY-beer first and offers something different to homebrewers, particularly as the trend of lower alcohol and lower carb beer grows across the entire beer segment.”
The full range of extracts available for the small batch brew kit (10L) now includes:
- Coopers Lager
- Mexican Cerveza
- Australian Pale Ale
- Ultra Crisp Mid Strength
- Ginger Beer
- Apple Cider
Homebrewers can brew these extracts on their own or use them as a base to create their own recipes. Coopers DIY Small Batch Brew Kits and new extracts are available online at diybeer.com, and at Big W stores across the country.
