Korean restaurant chain Gami has entered supermarket retail for the first time, launching a range of ready-to-cook Korean fried chicken developed exclusively with Coles over nine months.
The line uses crispy boneless chicken made with RSPCA Approved Australian chicken, paired with Gami’s signature sauces. Two products are on sale at $12 each for 400g: a Soy Garlic Sauce pack stocked nationally, and a Sweet Chilli Sauce pack in 475 selected stores. Both cook in 14 minutes in an air fryer or 21 minutes in an oven.
Coles general manager commercial for meat, deli, seafood and convenience, Karen O’Connor, said the range answered demand for globally inspired, convenient meals. “Korean cuisine continues to grow in popularity across Australia,” she said.
Gami founder and managing director, Jun Lee, said the brand worked closely with Coles to match the flavour and texture of its restaurant product. “It was important that the product delivered the same crispy chicken and signature sauces Gami is known for,” he said.
Founded in Melbourne in 2006, Gami operates 30 restaurants nationally. The range is available now in-store and online at selected Coles supermarkets.
