Whisky retail subscription service, The Whisky Club, has launched the oldest ever multi-distillery collection of Australian whiskies from some of the country’s founding whiskymakers. The Australian Decade Series is a limited-edition series of 10-year-old single casks marking the local industry’s coming of age.

The Whisky Club’s co-founder, Bert Cason, said the company had started in 2014, with membership growing from 100 in the first month to over 36,000 Australian whisky lovers.

“Our members' passion for the best exclusives from the world's greatest whiskymakers allows us to bring projects like The Australian Decade Series to life,” said Cason.

The inaugural bottle in the Australian Decade Series is the Bakery Hill 10 Year Old Single Cask, the first ever 10-year-old age statement whisky from mainland Australia’s founding craft single malt distillery. The second release is the Overeem 10 Year Old Lightly Peated Sherry Cask, Overeem’s first ever 10-year-old and one of the last casks distilled by legendary Australian distiller Casey Overeem.

The third edition in the series, the Limeburners 10 Year Old Created Exclusively for The Whisky Club, will launch 19 September. This is the first ever ten-year-old and the first age statement whisky from the Western Australian distillery. Following Limeburners will be 10 Year Old Single Casks from both McHenry and Hellyers Road.

The Whisky Club’s co-founder, Emily Ashbolt Cason, said the team was thrilled to launch The Australian Decade Series, as the “most significant multi-distillery collection of age statement whiskies in Australian history”.

“This series marks an important milestone for Australian whisky, which has grown from 28 whisky distilleries in 2014 to over 150 distilleries in 2024,” she said.

“For some of the founding distilleries we’ve worked with on The Decade Series, this is the first time they’ve released 10-year-old whisky, and we’re humbled to now be bringing it to Australian whisky drinkers around the country.”

Bottles available at The Whisky Club, which can be joined for free at thewhiskyclub.com.au.
