Cascade Draught 3.5% is now available on tap across Tasmania, with the launch celebrated at Hobart’s Cascade Brewery with guests raising a toast to officially launch the keg release.
Bringing the classic taste of Cascade Draught to drinkers looking to moderate their alcohol consumption, the mid-strength lager delivers the same crisp finish enjoyed in Tasmania for more than 60 years at just 1.2 standard drinks a Schooner.
Cascade’s new mid-strength beer continues the brewery’s long-standing commitment to the state, following a recent $13 million investment to modernise the brewery’s operations.
The launch also follows Cascade’s 200th anniversary celebrations in 2024 and the completion of a major restoration of the iconic brewery façade.
With sales of packaged Draught 3.5% flying across the state, its release on tap gives beer lovers more choice at the bar – whether they're catching up with mates or cheering on their favourite team.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff said Cascade was a much-loved Tasmanian brand.
“Cascade is a treasured Tasmanian brand, and for good reason, its legacy and contribution to the history of Tassie is legendary,” he said.
“Cascade's continued investment to support local jobs should be celebrated, because it ensures Tasmanians for generations can continue to enjoy this locally-brewed beer.”
CEO of the Tasmanian Hospitality Association, Steve Old, echoed the Premier’s comments.
“There's something special about being able to walk into your local pub and order a beer that's brewed right here in Tasmania.” he added.
“Having a mid-strength option from a brand as iconic as Cascade gives patrons more choice without losing that connection to a beer that's been part of Tasmania's story for generations.”
According to Cascade Brewery’s head of manufacturing, Brendan Flanagan, Cascade Draught 3.5% was created to give Tasmanians a mid-strength option that delivers the flavour and character people expect from the much-loved beer.
“When we spoke with publicans across Tasmania, one message kept coming through loud and clear, customers wanted a local mid-strength option they could order at the bar,” he said.
“Cascade Draught 3.5% is the answer. It's a beer born from feedback from our local pubs and their customers, giving Tasmanians a mid-strength option without sacrificing the taste and character that's made Cascade Draught a favourite for generations.”
Cascade Draught 3.5% is now available on tap across the state and in 30 packs of 375ml cans from Tasmanian Independent bottleshops, select pubs and at Hobart’s Cascade Brewery Bar.
