Cape Byron Distillery has released a limited edition gin collaboration with five leading Australian bartenders, to acknowledge World Rainforest Day on 22 June – with a rainforest tree planted for every bottle of Brookie’s Rainforest Gin sold.

Crafted with rainforest botanicals sourced from the distillery’s own regenerated rainforest, the gin is a collaboration between the Byron Bay-based Brookie’s co-founder, Eddie Brook, and the winning bartenders from the 2023 reGINeration Australian Cocktail Competition;

  • Andie Bulley, Waratah, Sydney;
  • Ben McCarthy, High Jinks bar, Canberra;
  • Greg Hookey, Captain Melville, Melbourne;
  • Hamish Mcshane, Moonlight, Byron Bay; and
  • Rumtin Nouzat, Fineprintco-Art Bar, Gold Coast.

The bartender’s prize for winning the competition was the opportunity to create their own signature gin during a bartender’s retreat at the distillery. Some of the feature ingredients include Quandong, Native Raspberry, Native River Mint, Rosella and a touch of salt water.

The cocktail competition and the gin were both designed to bring awareness to World Rainforest Day in June, a cause that Brookie’s family business holds close to its heart. The Brook family have regenerated their private property by planting over 40,000 rainforest trees, and advocate for local rainforest organisation, The Big Scrub Conservancy.

The one-for-one restoration arrangement means that a rainforest tree will be planted for each of the 1000 bottles of limited-edition Brookie’s Byron Rainforest Gin that have been produced.

Brookie’s CEO and co-founder, Eddie Brook, said that the company creates world class spirits that capture the flavours of the rainforest and region.

“We have crafted our Brookie’s Rainforest Gin in collaboration with five expert bartenders to make a limited edition dry style of Brookie’s gin with a purpose. Ideal for sipping a martini or shaken up in a South Side.”

The unique double sided label was designed by Mona Vale artist, Benjamin Ross, highlighting the botanicals and the Byron lifestyle.

Brookie’s Byron Rainforest Gin is available online at capebyrondistillery.com for RRP $81.99.

Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.

Pact has reported a decline in revenue and earnings for the first five months of FY26, citing subdued market demand, as chair Raphael Geminder pursues settlement of the long-running TIC earn-out dispute.
