Herman Brot has relaunched its Lower Carb Higher Protein Sourdough with bright new orange packaging, aiming to make it easier to find on shelves.

The company said it updated the colour of its Lower Carb Bread and Complete Protein Bread to bright yellow and green. The feedback received from consumers was positive, and sales saw an immediate increase as the products had become easier to find in supermarkets.

Herman Brot Director Christian Coenen said that unless packaging ‘pops’, the product gets lost.

“Our first run of Lower Carb Higher Protein Sourdough was launched in a beige bag to keep in line with some of the more ‘natural’ looking packaging that our competitors were using for similar products. Unfortunately, once on the shelf it was hard to see, so we decided to revert back to our ‘bright colour’ strategy and go orange,” said Brot.

Brot hopes consumers will be drawn to its bright orange packaging and key features and nutritional figures.

“Most sourdough breads are very high in carbohydrates, but this is where our Sourdough differs. The sourdough is vegan, with 5.2g carbs per serve, and also satisfies people’s protein needs with 16.9g protein per serve,” Brot said.

Herman Brot’s Lower Carb Higher Protein Sourdough is available nationally at Coles and at select independents and health food stores.
