Bega's latest peanut butter product, Simply Nuts Shake ’N Squeeze, answers the call from customers while peanut crops are hampered by wet weather.

In 2019, Bega expanded the iconic yellow-lidded peanut butter range with the brand Simply Nuts, made with only Australian peanuts and sea salt.

Bega Foods spreads marketing manager Jacqui Roth said, “Given that natural peanut butter is made from the simple process of roasting natural peanuts and adding a pinch of sea salt – it tends to run on the messy side.

“The new format of Simply Nuts Shake ’N Squeeze has been designed to directly address consumer feedback from research we conducted with peanut butter lovers before launching the product.

“Those first to trial the product said the Shake ’N Squeeze format removed the mess from the natural peanut butter equation, and made it much easier to add to a snack and when cooking meal-time favourites, like satay dishes,” said Roth.

Fourth-generation peanut farmer Cam Rackemann said the new Simply Nuts format was “revolutionary”.

“When it comes to peanuts, we thought we had seen it all, but it turns out... we hadn’t. We’re excited to see this new way for people to use peanut butter hit the supermarket shelves.” said Rackemann.

Rain hampered crop

Bega said roughly 75 per cent of this season’s peanut harvest has been completed across Queensland. However, wet weather across Queensland has hampered the last stage of harvest efforts.

Bega is hopeful the sun will come out to support peanut farmers in these last stages of harvest.

“While the last stage of our peanut harvest has been slightly hampered by the recent rain, we’re holding out for the sunshine so that we can close out this year’s harvest.

“Nothing makes us happier than growing a great crop of peanuts for the nation to enjoy,” added Mark Rackemann.

Simply Nuts Shake ‘N Squeeze is available in both smooth and crunchy, and can be found at Coles and independent stores nationally.

Packaging News

As 2025 draws to a close, it is clear the packaging sector has undergone one of its most consequential years in over a decade. Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.

Pact has reported a decline in revenue and earnings for the first five months of FY26, citing subdued market demand, as chair Raphael Geminder pursues settlement of the long-running TIC earn-out dispute.
