Australia’s second largest independent brewery, the Australian Beer Company (ABCo), has announced a new addition to its Son Of A Nun beer brand – Son of A Nun Mid Strength.

The “better for you” brand is produced at Casella Family Brands on-site brewery, in Yenda, New South Wales, which switched to solar power in April this year. The company’s solar facility is the largest of its kind in the Australian beverage sector, with 8730 solar panels, capable of generating 11.53 GWh of electricity per year.

Son Of A Nun operates with the brand philosophy that there should be a beer for every lifestyle, and Mid Strength joins this range, which also includes Low Carb and Zero Alcohol.

The company describes Mid Range as a beer with a tropical, fruit-like hop aroma, with a clean taste complemented by a mild hop bitterness, that adds a slight herbal and citrus note.

Australian Beer Co marketing manager, Sian Ryan, said that as an Australian independent brewer, the company is proud to provide more considered beverage options to customers.

“Through Son of A Nun’s ‘better for you’ range we’re tapping in to rising consumer demands of drinking in a ‘moderation mindset’, with 47 per cent of Australians currently watching the amount of alcohol they consume.

“Made from the finest ingredients, brewed to perfection in ABCo’s Australian family-owned brewery in country NSW, the latest addition Mid Strength joins the Son of A Nun family, providing options for everyone, no matter the occasion.”

The Son of A Nun range is exclusive to independent liquor stores, with the full list of stockists online at sonofanun.com.au.

Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
