Jet Technologies has partnered with Vinventions to create the world's first wine cork that is glue-free, TCA taint-free and biodegradable.

The SUBR F7 biodegradable natural wine cork combines plant-based materials and technology, with a glue-free plant-based binder, which is both biodegradable and recyclable, rather than the commonly used polyurethane glue.

Food and beverage packaging sustainability is of increasing importance in the Australian and New Zealand markets,” Jet Technologies general manager Daniel Malki says.

The biodegradable wine cork is an innovative product that is the first of its kind to launch globally and further adds to the range of sustainable options now available to wine producers.”

Malki says the wine cork is suitable for all wines and has a “high quality natural cork look”, offering the option to print wine branding on the sides or ends. It also ensures the integrity and quality of the wine it holds, with a consistent, low oxygen ingress, maintaining the aromas of the wine and performs well for cellar ageing.

The cork decomposes without the risk of migration of polyurethene products and complies with global food safety standards and regulations.
