Flexicon's new Pneumati-con Pharmaceutical Grade Filter Receiver features design elements that allow operators to readily change and inspect filter cartridges, and sanitise the interior.

The receiver housing is constructed of 316L stainless steel to pharmaceutical standards, designed for medium-to-high throughput vacuum and positive-pressure conveying of extra-fine, difficult-to-handle, or contamination-sensitive bulk solid materials. It features three tapered filter cartridges that separate conveyed material from the air stream.

Typical applications include separation of bulk pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, foods, and other contamination-sensitive materials being conveyed to tableting machines, packaging lines and other downstream processes.

A gas-spring-operated lid provides access to a removable filter plate, allowing cartridge filters to be removed and inspected or cleaned from the top, reducing product hold up points and cleaning difficulty. The tri-clamp fittings allow for rapid disconnection and cleaning of all accessory parts and lines.

Automatic reverse pulse-jet cleaning of the pleated filter media maintains separation efficiency, while the tapered filter design aims to improve material release.

Available in 450 and 610 millimetre diameters, the design can accommodate level sensors, pressure monitors, and other accessories.

Flexicon also manufacture complete pneumatic conveying systems, flexible screw conveyors, tubular cable conveyors, bulk bag dischargers, bulk bag conditioners, bulk bag fillers, bag dump stations, drum/box/container tippers, weigh batching/blending stations and plant-wide bulk handling systems.

Packaging News

Following the voluntary administration of Recycling Plastics Australia and confirmation that no Commonwealth packaging scheme will be introduced this term, voices from across the packaging and recycling value chain have delivered a blunt assessment of what is at stake.

Pact Group CEO and managing director Sanjay Dayal has advised the board that he intends to leave the company, with an executive search now under way for his successor.

With a Commonwealth packaging scheme ruled out this term, pressure is building ahead of the 18 September Environment Ministers Meeting, as industry, recyclers and environmental groups demand clarity on what meaningful national reform can still be delivered – and when.
