Australian food and beverage producers have a new source of locally made beverage-grade carbon dioxide with BOC’s CO2 processing facility in Longford, Victoria now supplying the market.

The facility commenced supply earlier this year, with capacity to produce more than 60,000 tonnes of beverage-grade liquid CO2 annually. This is equivalent to the amount of CO2 needed to carbonate 7.5 billion litres of carbonated drinks which could fill 400 Olympic size swimming pools.

The new facility has significantly increased BOC’s local production capacity of CO2, particularly on the east coast of Australia with capacity to back up other parts of the CO2 supply chain across Australia and New Zealand.

This is a positive development for customers in the food and beverage industry relying on CO2 for a broad range of applications including carbonation of beverages, as a chilling agent in food processing, dry ice or modified atmosphere packaging of dairy and other food products.

Certified CO2 product from a world-leading production facility

BOC’s new production facility features the latest Linde technologies and control processes to provide the highest standard of CO2 to customers. With advanced purification and liquefaction systems, the high-purity CO2 is certified to meet international standards.

The CO2 is ISO 22000 certified and meets International Standard FCC Grade CO2 requirement, which is a critical product certification for many applications in the food and beverage industry.

Supplying Australia’s east coast

BOC’s expanded CO2 supply chain on the east coast of Australia now includes three fully accredited CO2 processing facilities in Longford, Newcastle and Nowra. This strengthens BOC's position as a trusted supplier of CO2 in Australia.

High volume deliveries direct to customers

BOC supplies large volume customers directly from the facility predominantly in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. We support other customers of varying sizes and we also distribute to our regional and metropolitan filling and delivery centres where we distribute CO2 and liquid CO2 using CRYOSPEED vessels, manifold cylinder packs and individual cylinders.
