Roku Gin Sakura Pop-Up Bar

Like cherry blossom season in Japan, the Roku Gin Sakura Pop-Up Bar is here for a limited time this spring, popping up over 12 nights this September and October in a new location in Surry Hills.

Enter a world of beautiful cherry blossoms and enjoy a menu of six specially-created Roku Gin cocktails.

Each cocktail has been created with hanami in mind – the cherry blossom viewing that Japanese locals and visitors adore for a few weeks in spring every year.

From Thursday to Saturdays, book in to enjoy a Roku cocktail of your choice with a dinner bento and dessert by KOI Dessert Bar.

The hanami bento is a set meal box which is traditionally how the Japanese enjoy hanami with friends, family and co-workers under the cherry blossom trees.

Our friends at KOI are also taking inspiration from hanami to create an exclusive Roku Gin sakura dessert – exclusively available at the Roku Gin Sakura Pop-Up Bar.

Expect a riot at Canberra’s original game-changing dining space, as GOMA chef Matt Blackwell rolls into town for this one-night-only Good Food Month presented by Citi dining event at Monster Kitchen and Bar.

Tikaram joins Good Food Month to share a culture-clashing menu with Canberra at a special two-night event (Friday 13 March and Saturday 14 March) at the award-winning Malaysian-inspired Lanterne Rooms. Tikaram, a former Good Food Guide Young Chef of the Year winner, earned early recognition during stints at Sydney kitchens Bentley and Tetsuya’s, then as head chef of the now-closed but much-loved Longrain.

Guided by award-winning chef Ben Willis, this year’s round of young chefs will be serving up a feast you won’t forget. The full line up of talented young chefs will be announced soon. With four courses including wine and beer, this is a rare chance to meet the chefs before they gain their inevitable hats.

If the future is female, Alanna Sapwell is leading the way for chefs in Australia, and this is your chance to see her in action.

The 13th Canberra Craft Beer & Cider Festival is set to grow even further in 2020, adding a new street venue to cater for the Festival’s record popularity. The Festival, which will be held on Saturday 21st March between 11am – 6pm, will now be staged in Batman Street and Gooreen Street (adjacent to Mercure Canberra) to showcase an even wider range of premium craft beer and cider exhibitors.
