Sunny Queen Farms is luring children towards eggs with the launch of a new trading card scheme.

The augmented reality collectible trading cards feature a range of characters such as Roger Hardshell the footy star, Stacey Yolks the cheerleader and Micky Eggbeater the rock star.

Animation technology brings the cards to life on any smartphone when children download a free app. In addition, the cards provide entertaining stories and information on the health benefits of eating eggs.

Sunny Queen's GM of marketing, innovation and technical services Julie Proctor said the school-yard tradition of trading cards is alive and well.

The limited-edition series features a range of rare gold cards and a revival of some of the original Sunny Queen Colleggtible sticker characters from over 45 years ago.

“We've given some of the good old characters a revival and refresh,” said Proctor.

The cards will appear in Sunny Queen egg packs in Coles and Woolworths.
