High profile chefs and politicians, including the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore and the Minister for Environment, Rob Stokes, will be serving thousands of people a free hot meal at Martin Place today.

The food rescue organisation OzHarvest, supported by Virgin Mobile, is partnering with the United Nations to tackle the issues of food and nutrition security and sustainable food systems at the public event Think.Eat.Save.

The meals served will be made from surplus or misshapen produce that would have otherwise ended up as landfill.

Leaders and experts in the field of food waste, sustainability and security will debate the issues in a panel discussion including Professor Bill Pritchard, Costa Georgiadis, Ronni Kahn, Alexandra Iljadica, Joost Bakker and James Viles.
